Connection, communication, intimacy, and sex are the core of our human experience. When things aren’t working in this realm of our lives, it has a profound impact on the overall quality of our entire life. Littleton Couples Counseling believes in a holistic approach to brain-body mental and emotional health, understanding that the body remembers events and feelings long after the mind has forgotten. Our counseling center is one of the few that integrates Reiki, pelvic PT, psychopharmacology and ASL/sign-language counseling in addition to couples counseling, sex therapy, individual therapy and adult ADHD and autism coaching for communication, relationships, and sex. We even have a gynecologist in residence to assist with female sexual health. Our psychiatric nurse practitioner is fully-versed in ADHD and provides our clients with medication management.

Our providers work with individuals and couples in all relationship structures including traditional relationships, open relationships, ethical non-monogamous relationships and consensual non-monogamous relationships, poly relationships, swinging and lifestyle relationships, monogamous relationships, casual relationships, and/or long-term relationships. Our providers are kink-positive, poly-positive, and swinger-positive and work from a position of judgment-free therapy and shame-free therapy. Marriage & Couples Counseling. Sex Therapy. Create a fun, playful, and lighthearted sexual relationship for you and your partner.

Chris Wilhoite LMFT is an accomplished sex therapist who provides couples counseling in Littleton and surrounding communities to help couples express their sexuality together in a genuine and authentic manner. She helps individuals develop loving, secure, and confident relationships. Marriage counseling, couples counseling, and sex therapy can improve and strengthen your relationship.

Most clinicians are not trained to effectively work with adult ADHD or autism. Tommy Underhill is our adult ADHD and autism coach. Adults with autism and ADHD often face a different world than others.

All individuals have particular goals and needs. Every couple is different in how they need to address their sexuality to grow closer. Chris has received training in EFT (Emotionally-Focused Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Our clinicians are experienced in guiding individuals and couples as they work through a variety of struggles:

Building trust

Trust is like a marble jar: it can take a long time to fill and one action to empty. We help you come together to (re)build trust.

Intimacy & attachment

Intimacy and attachment set the foundation for the relationship. Honesty, sensitivity, and communication foster intimacy.

Body image

Our society fosters an unhealthy view of our bodies— for both men and women. We help you see yourself in a healthy view.

Women’s Sexual trauma

Sexual trauma is a broad term that refers to more than just rape, incest, child sexual molestation, or intimate partner violence. Sexual trauma often gets in the way of fulfilling closeness and intimacy.

Sexuality & Religion

Religion can play a restrictive role in sexual desire and expression. We help you redefine your sexual rules and rewrite your sexual narrative.

Low libido or sex drive

In the early days, it was just you and your partner. Then came the kids and making time for—and with—each other became more difficult. Re-establish your boundaries and provide a framework to protect and nurture your relationship.

Adult ADHD/ADD Relationships

Relationships with partners with Adult ADHD or ADD can have different rules than with neurotypical folks.

Mismatched sexual desire

Mismatched sexual desires can lead to struggles down the road. We foster communication to help bring each of you closer together.

Couples & Technology

Technology, television, Netflix, social media, and video games can intrude into a relationship and partially or completely displace a partner.

Pelvic pain

There can be many causes of pelvic pain. Some can be resolved with pelvic floor PT, others with psychotherapy. We help discover why it hurts.

Orgasm difficulty

Sex is a journey, not a destination. We help you slow down and enjoy the moment. Performance pressure can ruin your connection with your partner.

Erectile issues

When sex becomes an item on the to-do list, it’s time to revisit the foundations of what attracts you to your partner.

Differences in libido

Libido naturally ebbs and flows. Differences in libido can cause frustration or resentment. We offer a safe place to talk about wants and needs.

Polyamory

Poly is more than just wanting to have extra relationship sex. Working with a poly-aware therapist can help navigate the relationships.

Monogamish relationships

Partners have agreed to a mostly exclusive relationship, but with flexible boundaries that allow for connections outside the relationship occasionally.

Kink & BDSM

A kink-aware therapist will help you enjoy the relationship you negotiate without fear of shame.

Erectile dysfunction

ED can originate from many different places. Before you turn to a pill, we discuss the potential causes and solutions.

Discover what makes therapy work

What makes sex therapy different from “normal” therapy?

Sex therapy is a type of psychotherapy that focuses specifically on communication, relationships, intimacy, and sex. We often discuss low libido, desire discrepancy, painful intercourse, non-traditional relationships, orgasm difficulties, and sexual preferences.

What is sex therapy?

Sex therapy is a form of talk therapy that helps people deal with sexual problems and improve their sexual health and well-being. It’s important because we’re all sexual beings, and our mental health can affect our sexual desire and pleasure. Sex therapy can help people talk about uncomfortable things about sex, intimacy, and communication, but it’s important to remember that many sexual health problems could be solved if people talked openly about sex and their experiences.

Are you comfortable talking about ethical non-monagomy (ENM)?

Yes. Ethical non-monogamy (ENM) is a relationship style that focuses on honesty, openness, and mutual agreement when it comes to having multiple romantic or sexual partners. Whether you’re just starting to think about this idea or have been curious for a while, ethical non-monogamy can be a really liberating way to love and connect. But it’s important to know that this lifestyle might not be right for everyone. That’s totally okay. The real question is, does ENM fit with your values and emotional needs?

Can you help with struggles with sex and religion?

You might be confused about why feelings about sex are so tough when you believe “God made us as we are.” This struggle and doubt can make you feel even more ashamed and alone from your partner. You might even wonder if you’re going through religious sexual trauma, even though you were never physically abused in the church. This unwanted religious sexual dysfunction can strain your intimate relationships, and it might make the pain, guilt, and shame you’ve been carrying since you were a kid even worse. We can help.

Are our sexual wants normal?

It can be tough to figure out what’s “normal” when it comes to sex, because everyone’s different. Instead of trying to fit in with what others think is “normal,” it’s more important to listen to your own body and mind. Think about what makes you feel good and what you’ve been wanting lately. Comparing yourself to others or to porn can make you feel bad about yourself, but if you’re struggling with your sexual identity, know that you’re not alone.

My partner and I have mismatched desire. Are we normal?

A common concern is the struggle with low libido or decreased arousal. Many people experience fluctuations in their sexual desire—often due to medical conditions, stress, or other underlying factors. If your current arousal levels differ significantly from the past or from your partner, discussing it with one of our certified psychosexual therapists can help alleviate anxiety and provide guidance on how to address the issue.

How do I know when it’s time to talk to someone about my sexual issues?

If you’ve been looking for info about sex therapy and common sexual concerns, you’ve already taken a huge step towards acknowledging your worries. If your concerns keep you up a night, talking to a sex therapist could give you some clarity and help you find solutions.
